However, I'm curious about kara-cancelling into other moves other than throws. Example, I love Hugo... The Japanese player who 'kara-cancelled' into a gigas breaker... Is there a way to go straight into the gigas breaker after kara-cancelling his medium kick, or is the move to use the kara-throw to whiff then do the gigas breaker? If you can kara with his MK then I'm sure you can do the Gigas after the whiff. If I'm correct, you have to whiff to get the super out. It would be almost impossible to spin the stick in a 720º motion fast enough trying to cancel out a move on a certain frame unless I'm wrong and there are god-like players out there who can do it. If they block the big yellow ball then its just free damage anyways and you can dash up to them and throw them. Using his Kishin-Ricki with 2 punches... (corner) Sweep, standing mp, low mp, uppercut move. It's about 26 hits if I'm saying it right. I did it last night, I'll have to do it again and see. Posted by KAOS on 12:27:2000 01:41 AM: Damn, 8? I tried playing through the game using 12's throw technique... I wanted to shoot myself after 2 matches. That's so painful. Karakusa, standing fierce, abare tosonami, dash, weak punch fukiage, cancel into super jump, hard kick tsuguri. they should be dizzied. medium punch oroshi, abare tosonami, fierce punch hayate, mp hayate juggle. Another nice juggle with her is that you can super jump cancel after the abare tosonami and giver them a weak kick tsuguri and juggle again with a fierce punch hayate. I mean, I love it, and all, but having played it constantly for the last eight months, it's perhaps grown a little old. We never have any new blood to play, Horseman never plays it, Richard sucks and won't try harder, and I can count on less than both hands the number of 3S players I've run into, IN THIS ENTIRE CITY, at any arcade, that can give me any kind of run for my money. And the two best are in this thread. The only others are Ernie, Stephen, Zach, Ned, and Sig's Ryu. That's it. Seven people, eight if you count myself. So, the scene stagnates, and the game and series are a little aged too. And, like KAOS pointed out to me when he called earlier, the whole constant pokes/throws can really get to you after a while. Admittedely, NooNoo's new runaway tactics with Hugo and Q really turn me off also. I play games for fun (we don't exactly have lots of tournies down here to justify playing for any other reason) and friendship, and fighting that (for which there is little counter if you're not using freakin' Ryu) is not fun at all. It's also not fun to work your ass off for eighty seconds to remove 75% of Q's life, only to leave one little gap in your offensive flow, causing you to eat a super and lose. I still love 3S, but my attitude towards the game as of late as a competitive fighter is very, very, very lukewarm. As said above, if we had other people to play, it'd be more fun more often. As it stands, I am pretty tired of playing NooNoo's constant grappler runaway and KAOS' constant pokes and overheads. As I'm more than sure that everyone is tired of fighting my annoying Urien or my rushdown Necro. Or, *sigh*, my killer EX forever Ryu. I'm much more taken, lately, with Marvel 2. I mean, in 3S, we pretty much know everything about the game, and it's all about executing in matches, at this point. So, there's nothing new to learn, and no one new to play. Marvel, however, is another bag of tricks. Seeing as how I just started playing the game seriously two months ago, it's still new to me in general anyway. Plus, with all the characters, all the assist types, all the strategy involved, there's always new stuff to do. Plus, there's actually occasionally new people to play at Marvel, which there certainly isn't in 3S. I (God forgive me) can't honestly think, objectively, of a fighter more deep than MvC2. All the strategies, teams, counter-teams, rationing of assist and super usage, calculated risks, and controlled chaos...there's just much more to it than in most other fighters. All you have to get past is seeing any of it as cheesy. Hell, a lot of it is. But that's in the context of other fighters. Taken in its own context, nothing in Marvel is that bad. Some stuff and characters are disgustingly effective, but that's no different than Ryu being better than Sean in 3S. Plus, I can't use Team Asshole in 3S. Guilty Gear X is more fun in training than in real play. And Marvel 2 isn't really a fighter (it's more of a real-time strategy game at extremely high speed), so I can still play that. I've spent more hours training in training mode on 3rd Strike than I have doing anything else. I've pretty much figured out every thing you can do in the damn game it's just a matter of executing it (like D said). As for Noo Noo's Q and Hugo, I can't really say anything negative about them since he does win with them and consistantly I might add, it's just a matter of me trying to find a way of getting around them. And for Marvel 2, I think I might succumb to it and pick it up again. I used to play it hardcore when it came out but never really got in depth with it like all you hardcore players. CvS, well, there's always CvS when we're bored. This is why I've resorted back to Alpha 3. It's something to get away from 3rd Strike. It certainly does have more depth (MY OPINION FOLKS!!!!) with all the different fighting styles and 'isms'. Oh yeah, let's hit Diversions tonight. Personally I don't see whats so impressive about a kara wiffed gigis unless you use it to fake em into sticking something out to hit you then scoop em up...I can dash up and gigis as well as the kara wiff. I think the be all end all would be the walk up 720. I recently started to play MvC2,I think of it as a "wargame" as apposed to a fighter. Its like anything goes.The only problem I see is smaller characters such as guile are good, but could be better if they had like a doublejump or an airdash to get through all the sent/doom screen junk,so they could be more rush aggressive. Also I think thirdstrike is still the best game fun wise...You guys just need to take a break. I started playing CvS just to have comp...Also because Houston is having a tourney soon. Since you're moving backwards, it can't really be parried, and any counter gets snuffed. Same goes for Q with jump back fierce. If that's not running away, I don't know what it. And I only pull out Ryu after many attempts with much lesser characters (Necro isn't exactly top-tier, last I checked). Once again, like I said, I don't play games to prove anything. I play them for fun. As a diversion, from the rigors of day-to-day working life. And fighting that isn't fun for me. I'm not bitching that it's uncounterable. I'm bitching that it's boring to play.
